School Added-Value Index (SAVI)

”REALSAVI” NUMBER

THE “REALSAVI” NUMBER IS DERIVED BY TAKING  HIGH SCHOOL’S CURRENT “API” (”ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE INDEX”), WHICH IS FOR 2008, AND DIVIDING IT BY THE AVERAGE SELLING PRICE OF SINGLE FAMILY HOMES (”BY $/SQUARE FOOT’) OF HOMES SELLING WITHIN THAT HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, THEREFORE PRODUCING A NUMBER REPRESENTING THE “RealSAVI” VALUE OF HOMES SELLING IN THAT HIGH SCHOOL’S DISTRICT AREA.

CALIFORNIA ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE INDEX (API)

State legislation, the Public Schools Accountability Act (PSAA) of 1999 (Chapter 3, Statutes of 1999), established the Academic Performance Index (API), which summarizes a school’s or LEA’s academic performance and progress on statewide assessments. The API also is used as an additional indicator for federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) requirements.

The API is on a scale of 200 to 1000.
