Orange County High Schools: Valencia High School Places 18th Overall In California Academic Decathlon; Trabuco Hills High School Places 3rd In Division II

Trabuco Hills High in Mission Viejo took third place this weekend in the Division II of the state academic decathlon competition, school officials confirmed, while Valencia High School in Placentia placed 18th overall.california-distinguished-school1

Official results were posted on the California Academic Decathlon’s website late Monday. The competition lasted through the weekend and into Monday.

Trabuco Hills, in Mission Viejo, also took first in Super Quiz – which tested them in evolutionary biology. Two students won fist and second in Honors.

Ophelia Yin, 18, from was co-captain on the Trabuco Hills team. She took 1st place in Division II overall competing against other ‘A’ students.

“We’re really happy especially because we competed against tough schools,” she said. “This is also the first time we went to state in four years. It was really nice coming together as a team.”
