Foothill High School Girls Basketball, Led By USC-Bound Christina Marinacci, Wins CIF-SS Division III Championship Thursday Night 50-46 Over Inglewood

christinamarinaccifoothillgirlsbasketballportraitUSC-bound Christina Marinacci had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead top-seeded Foothill High School past Inglewood, 50-46 Thursday for the CIF-SS Division III-A girls basketball championship at Mater Dei.

Marinacci, a McDonald’s All-American, was the difference in a contest that tightened at the end.

Foothill (29-1), which also received 11 points and 11 rebounds from Mackenzie Hirz, saw a double-digit lead dwindle to four points in the final minutes. But Inglewood’s Hazel Ramirez was whistled for her fifth foul and Marinacci hit two free throws. The Sentinels never got any closer.

Both teams await Sunday’s announcement of the brackets for the Southern Regional playoffs.
